Among the most experienced trial attorneys in California, Matt Murphy is also among the most successful. As a Senior Deputy District Attorney, Mr. Murphy tried over 200 cases to verdict including 120 jury trials. Assigned to both the Sexual Assault, and Homicide Units, these cases often involved complex, lengthy, and difficult litigation. Mr. Murphy was among a select group of “cold case” prosecutors and for 17 years was responsible for all murder cases from the cities of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, and Laguna Beach. Over the last 20 years, he has successfully tried some of the highest profile, most depraved, and challenging cases in the State.
The vast majority of legal disputes can, and frankly should, resolve long before the case actually proceeds to trial. In an adversarial judicial process, however, sometimes amicable settlements are simply not going to happen. When innocent people have been physically injured, psychologically damaged, or in some way profoundly wronged by the actions (or negligent inactions) of another, proper resolution may require an attorney who can actually go to court and fight.
Mr. Murphy prides himself on personally helping his clients through the judicial process. Although he works closely with an extensive network of other attorneys, if Matt Murphy agrees to represent you or a loved one, he will handle the case himself.
